Have you heard of gameschooling?
It's one of the most fun things I have learnt about as a homeschooler.
As humans, we learn exponentially more by DOING something rather than hearing or reading about something. This is what makes hands on learning so successful.
Gameschooling adds an extra element of fun. It's a way to introduce or teach a concept or even to supplement your child's learning (whether you're homeschooling or sending your children to school).
Just recently I discovered my children had set up a game of scrabble for themselves while I was busy. I was thrilled to find them playing , because it is great not only for the language benefits (spelling and vocabulary) but also because it requires you to calculate word scores + bonuses (maths).
Some of the board games we have collected over the years are:
- Scrabble (junior and normal)
-Sudoku
-Boggle
-Matching games
-Junior 30 seconds (requires reading quickly + speech skills)
-chinese checkers
-chess
-monopoly
-dominoes
I'm also a fan of Islamic board games like:
- 5 Pillars fun box (from @suhaylakids)
- @learningroots Companion Quest
-Quran Challenge games
- @learningroots manners cards (I have a whole post about this on my feed - will share in stories. )
I have some other resources for games but I'll share them in future posts. Save this post if you want to be able to come back to this list!
